I have been woefully out of my writing and publishing habit due to my fundraising event on July 20, 2026. It was not a financial success, but it was a learning curve success and big on lessons on how to approach next time. I also received that quintessential Torontonian kindness from Taco Taco’s owners, Hi and Vee, who insisted on canceling my contract when they saw my attendance was low. The bartender assigned to me Mary Rose was phenomenal as well. She maintained and upbeat outlook, was my priestess to my confession of disappointment in friends, and she helped carry out my stuff to my car at the end of the night.
Their generosity and hospitality is bar none than I have ever experienced as a patron or a small business owner. Mexican and Asian fusion food that hits the spot whether happy hour time or late dinner. Fresh Mojitos and Margaritas and an excellent selection of local beers and fresh juices for the mocktail crowd.
Their tacos are Mexican City street taco with fresh corn tortillas and classic offerings as well as some Asian fusion spins on classics. I am coo-coo for their Al Pastor chicken and Butternut Squash tacos. They have plenty of offerings for the vegetarian and vegan crowd, my favorite appetizers include Cauli Wings and corn fritters.
They offer Happy Hour pricing Monday-Thursday 5 pm-7-pm with $6.00 beers, shots, and well mixed drinks, $9 Margaritas, and 3 tacos for $15.
Taco Taco is at 319 Augusta Avenue, just off College. They have patio, indoor seating, and a recently renovated special event space with sound system, microphones, and speakers. My first time there was on Mother’s Day 2026 for an open mic hosted by The Dot, featuring some of the most incredible working musical theatre, cabaret, and opera singers of Toronto. Big talent and equally humble and welcoming of all talent levels. I will be there tonight for their event, At the Drive-In; A love letter to movie musicals.
